Apple  is  an American technology company specializing in consumer electronics, software and online services headquartered in Cupertino, California, United States. it is the largest IT company by revenue (totaling US$365.8 billion in 2021) and as of May 2022, it has become:

1. The second largest company in the world by value,
2. Fourth largest seller of personal computers in terms of unit sales
3. The second largest mobile phone manufacturer.

It is one of the top five American IT companies, along with Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft, Samsung

Apple was founded as the Computer Company on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne to develop and sell computers,  but by 1985, the high cost of its products and power struggles among executives had caused numerous problems that had divided it.

With the expansion and development of the PC market during the nineties, Apple lost a significant market share due to the cheaper binary monopoly of the Microsoft Windows operating system on Intel-powered clones (also known as “Wintel”). In 1997, after weeks of bankruptcy, the company bought NeXT  to solve Apple’s unsuccessful operating system strategy and entice Jobs to return to the company.

Jobs directed Apple to profitability through a number of tactics including offering…

Unforgettable advertising campaigns were launched, the Apple Store chain opened, and several companies were acquired to expand the company’s reach.

Jobs died in 2011, and was succeeded by Tim Cook as CEO.

 Sales of Mac computers that included M1 chips rose sharply in 2020 and 2021. It has also inspired other companies such as Tesla, Amazon, and Meta Platform to follow a similar path.

In April 2022 Apple opened an online store that allows anyone in the United States to view repair guides and order parts for certain modern iPhones.

In May 2022 a tag was introduced to  Reality OS,  an operating system said to be dedicated to virtual reality and augmented reality headphones, the headset may be released in 2023.

On July 7, 2022, Apple announced the launch of a new security feature called Lockdown Mode.  The stone pattern will be available in the fall with the new operating system, and will serve as protection for users at high risk against cyber attacks of spyware.

iPhone  : The iPhone is Apple’s smartphone line that uses the company’s iOS operating system, derived from the Mac OS kernel.

The iPhone has a user interface built around a multi-touch screen, which at the time of its launch was described as “revolutionary” and “game-changing” for the mobile industry.

iOS is one of the two largest smartphone platforms in the world along with Android. The iPhone has made significant profits for the company, and is credited with helping to make Apple one of the most valuable traded companies in the world. As of 2021, the iPhone accounts for more than half of the company’s revenue.

iPad:  The iPad is Apple’s tablet line that uses the company’s iPad OS operating system, derived from Mac OS and iOS.  It accounted for nine percent of the company’s revenue as of 2021.

In recent years, Apple has started to offer more powerful versions of the device, with the current iPad Pro using the same M1 processor along with a smaller version of the device called the iPad Mini, and an upgraded version called the iPad Air.

Wearables, Home and Accessories: Apple also manufactures many other products that it classifies as “wearables, home and accessories”. These products include the  AirPods range of wireless headphones and digital media players from Apple TV, Apple Watch smartwatches, Beats headphones and smart HomePod mini speakers.
