Founded by E. Pyeongchul in 1938 as a trading company, Samsung has diversified its business in many fields.

The increasing adoption of OLED displays in laptops and gaming consoles contributed to the results.

In terms of large displays, the company introduced QD displays in the first quarter, raising expectations for QD TVs scheduled for release in the third quarter.

Looking at the second quarter, the production of LCD displays was eased as planned and the keenness to expand QD products

The DS division recorded consolidated revenue of $21 billion and $6 billion in operating profit in the first quarter, thanks mainly to increased demand by servers and PC.

The company will also continue to pursue its portfolio by expanding sales of high-value-added and high-efficiency products, while actively interacting with demands for applications that show the greatest growth potential.
