  1. Works great

  2. If you have any experience pulling up automotive trim, then the installation is pretty simple. I installed the eRapta camera at the same time as I upgraded my car’s headunit so I was already in the mode for pulling stuff apart. The wire for the camera is thin enough that I was able to put it behind my trunk trim piece and through the license plate light of my 2011 Toyota Camry- I didn’t have to cut or drill anything. The instructions included did a good job explaining what I needed to do. I hooked up the red wire from the camera, and the red wire on the RCA cable, to the hot 12v wire of my car’s reverse light. I hooked up the camera’s ground wire to a bolt on my trunk lid. I ran the RCA wire under the door trim panels and through my dashboard. I plugged in the RCA cable to the correct spot on the back of my car stereo, and the red wire from the RCA to the backup camera trigger wire on my stereo’s wire harness. After making sure that it worked, I cut wire specified in the instructions to remove the built in parking lines (since my stereo can superimpose its own), and the put all the car’s trim panels back in place.

  3. I did a lot of research before I bought this camera. It had great reviews and the camera picture quality is as expected and better. I wanted a camera that was inconspicuous and didn’t have a big black bar or frame across the top of the license plate. In other words, a factory look on my truck. Also, some people have written in their reviews (not necessarily this product but on other similar products that covered the top of the license plate) that they were stop by law enforcement because of that issue. (The state name was covered.) I didn’t want the possible hassle so ordered this style. Some time after I installed the camera I took my truck to the car wash which isn’t a touch free. When I got home and started to back in the driveway my camera was bent out of shape. The bracket holding the camera is only about 1/4 inch wide and maybe 1/16 inch thick and doesn’t hold up to the brushes that do the washing. Unfortunately, I discovered this issue after the 30 day satisfaction guaranteed replacement as I was waiting on the installation of a new radio in my truck that had a screen for the camera. I am looking to replace the camera maybe with the less expensive ERT01 but open now to any camera that is comparable and with excellent reviews.1/9/21The ERT02 is still a one star product with needed design changes. I changed my review to a 5 star for three reasons: 1. The new camera the ERT11 3rd generation camera held up to the test of an aggressive car wash with out bending out of shape. 2. The company went out of it’s way to make me satisfied with their product at what ever cost. 3. Fiona the customer service rep that I dealt with was fantastic. I am now looking for a wireless backup system for my travel trailer of which ERapta has a few.

  4. Parts I used:Axxess AX-GMLAN11-SWC interfaceeRapta ERT02 reverse cameraMetra 40-CR10 antenna adapterMetra 95-3302 dash kitATOTO F7se Android stereoWorks good, bracket is thick metal, I installed it under a silicone license plate cover to protect the car from scratches.

  5. I’d recently been updating my car and giving it a little TLC – restoring the headlights, replacing the stereo, adding dash cams, etc. So a backup camera was a must, and I was worried how hard it’d be to set up at first, but honestly after replacing the stereo, this is nothing. Install process will definitely vary from car to car, but aside from drilling a small hole to run cables through, everything else was simple. One video cable, one power cable. Use the screws already holding the license plate in place, and it’s good to go (as far as this product is concerned).Comparing to the eRapta ERT01, I can’t say with confidence what really changed on the inside without being able to try it out, but the fact that it can now be hidden behind the plate rather than on display on top of it is a huge plus to me. I always notice whenever someone has a huge, aftermarket backup camera like the ERT01, and wondered how often people tried to steal them off of cars.Behind the plate with this revision, I appreciate it being more subtle – both for style, and security reasons. It’d of course be nice if it were wireless, but at this price point it’s not an expectation. The camera isn’t comparable to, say, a modern smartphone’s (maybe a front facing camera from a few years ago), but it still certainly gets the job done.I saw others pointing out that the leading lines might not line up correctly with the ground, but I’m assuming it has to do with the height and angle that it’s mounted at, like if it’s down low on a sports car vs up high on a pickup, the camera likely doesn’t account for the difference and probably has a predetermined overlay. However, it appears that they’ve since released the ERT3, and at the time of writing, is cheaper than this model. Main difference I see is that they’ve since added LED’s for nighttime usage – in which case, if you’re currently reading this review, I’d suggest taking a look at that product, as well.
