  1. Camera is mounted on a fence next to the highway, and aimed at our mailbox +/- 90′ away located on the far side of the highway at an angle of around 45 degrees or so when looking down the fence line. This is a bit further than this camera is really good for as far as getting GOOD identification. Fair for day use at that distance, but a stretch for the night. In fact the IR is not lighting up the mail box, but that might be due to the camera being aimed a bit low right now. But by a bit, I mean a bit, can’t be more than 5 degrees off from dead on to the vertical line, and is dead on to the horizontal alignment.Daytime beyond 90′ distance it drops off pretty fast, our drive is 110′ away, and it is difficult to make out much detail, as in case you need to make a GOOD description of someone’s facial features and such. But if you know who the person is, you will be able to make out who it is.But, that said, you can tell make and model of cars, day or night. The Auto Gain Control (AGC) and Back Light Compensation (BLC) seem to work pretty well. Cars coming toward the camera at night do not wipe out the picture other than just the front of the oncoming car as it approaches at distance, and as soon as the cars are at about 100′ away or so, you can make out what kind it is, and improves as it closes from there.Anything coming down the fence line at night shows up decent out to 60′ or so.But bear in mind this is a $20 camera, and for the price it is well worth it.Works great for an overview camera, but you want to have a better one if you need to really zero in on something.

  2. I had been looking for a 24-hour camera and screen so we could watch for problems in our location. The system is very flexible and can do a lot of things, but we just wanted a long range, day and night camera that watches our driveway. The camera proved to have high quality daylight scanning over a large area and infrared scanning at night with a somewhat smaller area. We have no windows toward our driveway and parking area so we can’t watch for trespassers even with sound. So, I bought the subject camera and mounted it high over our garage doors then I ran the 100-foot connector wire through the garage, down to the crawl space and back up to a box in the great room, plugged in the DVR and hooked up the Acer chrome screen. For someone like us it was a pretty complicated system and the ZOSI folks were a GREAT help with numerous emails to solve our problems. With the final hookup and more help from ZOSI the viewing system combined with the long distance warning devices is fantastic and works beyond our expectation. Please note that other parts of the system were ordered separately from ZOSI to complete the system we wanted and those parts will be reviewed individually.

  3. Dead clear video in 1080p digital mode, replaced the old cam with this unit, and I was floored by the video quality. Solid cam and a bit larger than I thought it was going to be, also built well with all metal parts and hood. No plastic junk on this one, folks!

  4. About five years ago, I purchased a Q-See DVR and camera system. There had been a few break-ins nearby and I wanted something to supplement my security system. The cameras that came with the system proved inadequate due to low resolution and a narrow field of view. They also wore out rather quickly, giving me green skies and purple grass – not exactly what the police would need to get a conviction should a recording ever have to be admitted to court as evidence. I searched long and hard and upgraded to a set of VideoSecu cameras. At 400 TVL indicated, they were amazing, with a wider field of view and much higher resolution. The price was good too at $29 or so per unit. These proved adequate until a couple of weeks ago, when the break-ins moved onto my street. If the VideoSecu cameras have a shortcoming, and it can’t be much of one at that price point considering how well they work and their durability, it’s their night resolution. While checking my cameras after a break-in down the street, I found that the subject had been in my yard too, but that the noise in night mode made identification of a subject impossible. The police were happy to have the videos – they proved that the subject had been going up the street trying car doors – but they didn’t allow the police to solve the incident. I decided there and then that an upgrade would be necessary, so I tried this camera. While this camera is not as much an improvement over the VideoSecu as the VideoSecu was over the Q-See, it offers a very noticeable improvement in night vision and an arguable improvement overall. Make no doubt, this camera is big for a bullet camera and it’s heavy, but I think the price (lower than the VideoSecu by $5) and the increased night performance serve to highly recommend this camera. In a side-by-side test (I have two cameras that cover the same area from different angles), the ZOSI was much more clear in all light conditions and was pretty much without noise in streetlight-only illumination, where the VideoSecu covering the same area was subject to a great deal of noise. Under Christmas lights, when the VideoSecu was still black-and-white and noisy, the ZOSI offered a bit of color and a noise-free image. The field-of-view seems a tad bigger than the VideoSecu as well.Overall, this is a good camera and at this price point, is a truly stunning deal. I’ve purchased a four pack to upgrade my system. I’m really sure that I can’t afford not to.

  5. Okay good quality
