  1. Motion detection does not work. Signal is much weaker than advertised.

Works surprisingly well for a no-name Chinese brand.Haven’t done a long term test yet. I’ll update this review after a year.So far so good.I gave this to my dad for his birthday and he installed it easily and was able to get the phone app working too.The app isn’t great. It lacks clear instructions and functions. But it’s the same way with all Chinese apps. They’re all half-a**ed and poorly translated.Pros:- The cameras feel high quality, and will probably survive being outdoors. Still testing this. Time will tell.- Video quality is pretty decent. Night vision works well.- 1TB of space is not bad. I just hope the Chinese hard drive they put in there will last. I may swap it out with an SSD at some point in the future.Cons:- the signal is only strong enough to go through one or two walls. It does NOT reach every area of the house. That advertisement is a lie.- Just like all Chinese products, poor translation and instructions, and poor software.- Poorly designed software on the DVR and the phone app. A lot of buttons aren’t labeled properly, and you have to guess what they do. Takes a lot of trial and error.- Have not figured out how to set up the motion detection features. Again, because of crappy software.I will update this review later. Let’s see how long this thing lasts…*** UPDATE ***9 months later… the camera system still works, but the performance is not as good as advertised. It seems the wireless signal has become weaker. One of the cameras keeps disconnecting and not showing video, and when it does connect, the video quality is extremely low, with an extremely low frame rate. For some reason the signal is not as strong as it was when the system was new. Also, the software is garbage. The motion detection feature never worked. When you play back video, you can only select what time to play back. The option to view motion detection has never worked. You click on it and it says “no video”Why is it so hard to design a product that works? I don’t understand it. Basic common sense.

  2. As good as I was hoping, Better than I expected

This product was exactly as explained. The cameras were paired to the receiver already so I didn’t have to set anything up. The cameras are good quality and have a sharp, clear image. The view angle isn’t very wide so you have to place the cameras back in a corner or kind of far away to view a large area. Didn’t need to use the antenna extender that came with it. All 4 cameras have great signal! Network setup was easy to figure out even though the instructions were written in poorly translated English. The operating system isn’t great but for the price I didn’t expect it to be as good as it is. The operating system also has some English translation issues which are kind of funny if you have a sense of humor. Only problem I had was trying to figure out the password pre installed. User name is ADMIN that shows up right away. I tried all of the factory password I could think of and nothing worked. Then I left the password blank and it worked. LOLMobile app works pretty good. sometimes not all 4 cameras show up and I have to go back and open cameras again on My Devices screen and then they come up. Don’t bother using playback feature on phone unless you are on Wi-Fi. Playback feature is great on the NVR itself but if you try to use it via network or mobile device it will stream the video in 1 hour long files and I couldn’t get it to FF or REW. Like I said it works great playing back on the NVR device itself you can skip ahead or back easily. I would recommend this product for anybody on a budget. I gave 5 stars because this system is better than I expected

  3. Sturdy and well built

Very clear video signal. and plenty of IR led lights allowing you to see very far into the darkness. The only drawback is with so many LED IR lights, faces that get too close to the camera, at night, get over exposed and washed out but from 7 feet away or more that doesn’t happen. in the day of course, you can get as close to the lense as you want with no overexposure.excellent camera

  4. Easy to set up

This has a good picture and is fairly user-friendly. Having a little trouble figuring out some of the finer points but I’m not real computer savvy and haven’t gone online for help.so actually I guess it’s pretty good as I’m flying by the seat of my pants and making it work. Added 2 more cams to the system and that was easy as well.

  5. So far has held up to a Minnesota winter… but is affecting home Internet?

The cameras were fairly easy to install, and the picture quality is pretty good. They’ve been up for about 4 months, including some summer and some winter, with rain and snow. For this price, I’m content. There definitely is room for improvement. The browser-based user interface for accessing the DVR is very clunky, and the native user interface on the DVR itself isn’t a whole lot better. Video playback is definitely possible, but it takes a lot of pushing and shoving. Also, I’m attempting to download some videos and it’s incredibly slow, both via the browser and via backing up to a USB drive. I haven’t figured out how to make the camera feed available outside my own WiFi network yet.If you plan on reviewing videos all the time then this is not the right camera for you. But if you’re expecting to not have very many incidents when you need to look at the camera, then it’s a good value.UPDATE 12/4/2018: For the past several days we’ve been having issues with our home Internet dropping occasionally, both over WiFi and ethernet cable. Interestingly, when I turned off the DVR, the system went back to normal. We have a 250 Mbps/sec connection, so I can’t imagine how the DVR would be hogging so much bandwidth. Now I’m worried the device may have been compromised. This is very concerning…UPDATE#2 12/4/2018: I turned the system back on but unchecked the “Cloud(P2P)” option. This seems to have fixed the problem. I never could get the Cloud thing to work anyway, so there’s no point in having it.UPDATE #3: 1/28/2018: We’ve had several sub-zero days in Minneapolis and the cameras continue to function as they always have.
